Rhine Legions. Anonymous, circa May/June-December 68. Denarius (Silver, 16 mm, 3.09 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in Gaul or in the Rhine Valley. 'S P Q R Group'. SALVS ET LIBERTAS Minerva standing front, head to right, holding spear in her right hand and placing her left on shield set on ground. Rev. S P Q R within oak wreath. BMC 29. CG 95.2 (this coin). Cohen 418. Martin 75. Nicolas 68 and pl. III, 68 MZ (same dies). RIC 66. Very rare. A beautifully toned example. Somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.

The importance of this coin lies in its obverse die match to lot 1120 below, which connects the 'S P Q R Group' to the 'SIGNA P R Group'.
